The South African Madness!

March 29, 2009 - 9:42 am

I have been on the run literally!! From airports to the press conference to matches to Interviews!! Flew in directly from London to Johannesburg the minute I heard the change in the IPL plans. At the moment on a flight to Cape Town that’s where the tournament starts on the 18th April. The logistics for my team is utmost priority and with less than three weeks before the IPL kicks off,  everything has to be in place. I am very proud of my management team at Rajasthan Royals and everyone has pulled together to make the impossible possible. Manoj Badale our chairman has the worst job I feel at this moment but under the circumstances is doing a fantastic job.

Kudos to the South African government and South Africa cricket body who have welcomed us with open arms and I am really hopeful after attending the Australia vs. South Africa Pro T20 Match on Friday, seeing the huge cricket fan base there, I am sure that the IPL  will be hugely successful. The pressure is really on this year especially for us (the reigning champions :) ) but I feel Rajasthan Royals have an edge since three of our players belong to the South African Team, namely Graeme Smith the captain of South Africa, Morne Morkel and Tyron Henderson.  It’s a once in a life time opportunity to watch legendary cricketers on one platform outside of India.  It is a pity that it won’t be happening in India but like they say what cannot be cured has to be endured.

Hats off to Mr. Lalit Modi who has really set a management example by pulling of an International Tournament that can take years of pre-planning in less than three weeks.

Last but not least I know my Rajasthan Royal fans are disappointed but hope they are not disillusioned since we will be back with a bigger bang next year. Stay tuned and keep cheering because we still need your true loyal support……Halla Bol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Shilpa,
I just chanced upon a newsitem which mentions that you will probably be an Eastender star. Well….as “ASIANS” we will be delighted if we find the rustic town of Walford being charmed by your grace and we would love to see you in the telly. BUT……I am afraid it will definitely bring your popularity down in future. Esender is a show where there is no definite storyline….and I feel the popularity is much because the show shows none of the actors or actresses as a human. All of them…every single one of them are shown to have very dubious characters. And if you star in eastenders I am sure your character will be portrayed similarly. As Asians we do have to endure and prove ourselves to this country. You had been a whiff of fresh air when you portrayed that ASIANS can be dignified, sophisticated, religious and SEXY too. Starring in easender will bring all that crashing down.
People want to see you as a Celebrity….as somebody who cannot be reached..please DO NOT BRING yourself down by starring in eastender. If there are not any better roles…I would rather suggest that you start some reality show type thing with ASIAN theme…something like Jhalak dikhla jaa….there are loads of participants who will be willing to do such thing and u will be in the centrespread again…but say no to eastenders.
You had been termed dignified queen of UK, but post Jade’s death I feel the scanario has changed. I can see that any mistake by you at this juncture…even if you portray a role of a stupid dumbo will b taken seriously by the viewrs and they would do everything to dump you..

I hope you will say NO to eastenders!!!

If ever you happen to be in Northampton please leave a note.

    Cheers

    Rongon

As you said, it’s better to have the IPL outside than not having it at all. Though it won’t be the same as it was in India, we, your fans, are firmly behind you and hope to see you victorious all the way! As you said Halla Bol! And good luck with your video!

  6. ShannonLadd Says:

Best of luck with IPL, and of course we support the Royals. Love your video. Your schedule is so demanding! You must be a superwoman. What about the rumors of your marriage in October? Please give us a definitive statement. We love you always.

    Hi Shilpa,

Have been a fan of your blog, but have few concerns and suggestions.

First and foremost, it is really very sad to find the news of your October wedding on other news channels/websites and not on your blog. I think its shame on you if you cannot provide your readers with such an important piece of news. Of all places on earth, I’d have definitely wanted to read it here first.

Secondly, you are not a sincere, punctual blogger. We all know and understand that you are very busy, but are you busier than Big B and that too at his age? Still, you can see he writes on his blog every single day - EVERY SINGLE DAY. Whereas, you write whenever you want. I would have liked to cheer your team, but will not do so as you don’t care for your loyal readers, why should we care for your Rajasthan Royal?

    Thanks,

    Katie

By the way, do you even read these comments?

    Shilpa's Reply:

I sure do read your comments. The articles on my wedding were news to me as well. If you read the latest article posted, you will realise that.

I do try and write to my fans on a regular basis. Their opinion does matter to me, hence the blog.
So keep reading and I’m sure you will not be disappointed.
