London - The new venture

August 23, 2009 - 11:50 pm

Hey guys landed in London after a 7 hour flight from New York. Here on work embarking on another business venture that I am announcing at a press conference today. and when I do something new the first place you’ll get to hear of it is here :-) It gives me great pleasure to announce that Raj and me have invested with the V8 Gourmet Group, we’ve dabbled in a whole lot of different things, CRICKET, Medispas and now the F&B market. Got to acknowledge the fact that Indian food is much enjoyed (chicken tikka masala becoming the nation’s favorite) and has a huge market in Britain. Me being a self confessed Foodie also being synonymous with a healthy lifestyle and to top it all being a SHETTY, a surname associated with the Food sector (pioneers in Udipi restaurants) in india, this was only a sign for us to think it right to invest and procure a 33% stake in V8 that encompasses Vama, The Bombay Bicycle Club and Tiffinbites :) We also do airline catering and the newest plan is to introduce Readymade Indian meals that will be under 10 % fat!

Very excited about this venture and with the expertise of Co-owner and celebrity chef Andy Varma hope to cater to all those people who enjoy delicious, healthy, authentic Indian food that will be convenient to cook! Hoping to launch this line of readymade meals after Christmas in Britain. it’s great to know that our restaurants are frequently visited and appreciated by A list clientele like, Brad Pitt, Woody Allen, Mick Jagger, His Highness King Abdullah of Jordan, Bryan Adams, Rowan Atkinson and Uma Thurman and even our very own Amitabh Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan. Will be branching out to Dubai and Jordan by end of this year, and many more in years to come. Would also like to clarify all those reports and rumors about it being in honor of Jade Goody is completely and utterly baseless! So you’ve heard this from ME, and that’s what counts. Sorry about not blogging as often but hope you understand how manic it’s been to multitask amidst all these various projects. Please do keep writing in, it means a lot. All of this is only possible with all your love good wishes and support.

Hi Shilpa, thanks for sharing this news with us! However, for some reason, this information was posted on The Telegraph India website before this blog. Well at least you have confirmed it and clarified the rumours. Thanks for clearing up the Jade Goody rumour, I somehow thought that was not a sensible decision, and did not want to believe it, but there were quotes like, ‘”said a close friend of the Bollywood actress.” When there are statements like that, it’s usually a made up quote, hence not naming any people, but referring to an anonymous friend. These media people are full of baseless rumours :)

You’re sure becoming the business woman of the year! :) but does this mean we’ll not be seeing you much more in movies? Are ‘The Man’ and ‘The Desire’ going to be your last full-fledged roles? :(

Dear Shilpa, Glad you are back in London. You looked so pretty at Independence Day parade. Exciting to hear about your latest venture into Indian food (best in the world). Yeah, there have been many web postings about you naming some product after the late, unlamented Jade Goody. Glad to know that’s rubbish. Best of luck from your many fans in USA.

A barmecide room and barmecide feast are relished by few . A banquet where
dishes served have palatable and savory victuals is a treat for all , more
so for the connoisseurs , gourmets and epicures . The mere sight of
delicious eatables can cause one to feel famished and gobble voraciously
like a glutton . Both cognitive and volitional faculties receive ample
impetus and zest for life may come to the forefront as one tends to overeat and be overjoyed . The modern inference of epicurean philosophy — ‘ Eat , drink and be merry …… ‘ is quite in consonance with a hedonistic lifestyle wherein acquiring pleasure and happiness are accorded ultimate importance . The great Greek pholosopher Epicurus thus enunciated a materialistic approach for achieving tranquility and happiness by relishing delicacies .

For i just realized that ( when inifinity is subtracted from infinity , infinity
still remains infinity ……… so there is always infinite scope for improvement
no matter how good you are in any field )

    HI Shilpa,
u were that v8 gourmet was a take over case and there might be trouble. before 2002, no body was knowing tiffinbites. so instead of getting involveed in this , you could have started a new one.
with your name any new restaurant would have emerged as leader.
anyway, i hope things will settle down.
